What is Brown's Gas?
Brown's Gas is a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen gases. It's often compared to hydrogen therapy because both contain hydrogen, but Brown's Gas has a much higher concentration of hydrogen (66%) compared to oxygen (33%). This gas is also known as HHO (Hydroxy Gas).
How was it discovered?
Brown's Gas was first created by a Bulgarian engineer named Ilya Velbov. After moving to Australia, he changed his name to Yull Brown, which is why the gas is called "Brown's Gas." He spent 30 years researching water electrolysis—the process used to make Brown's Gas.
How is it made?
The process starts with water electrolysis, which separates water
(H₂O) into its two main parts: hydrogen and oxygen. Here's how it
works:
1.Electrolyzer setup: A special machine called an electrolyzer is
used. It has two electrodes (a positive and a negative one) placed
in a solution of water mixed with a catalyst (like baking soda or
potassium hydroxide).
2.Electric current: When electricity flows through the solution,
hydrogen bubbles form at the negative electrode (cathode), and
oxygen bubbles form at the positive electrode (anode).
3.Separation: A membrane (like a thin plastic sheet) keeps the hydrogen and oxygen gases separate. This allows them to mix in a specific ratio (2:1 hydrogen to oxygen) to create Brown's Gas.

different flow rates, hydrogen: oxygen = 2:1). Employing PEM
